Thankful huh?

Since my good friend Gruia moved to the "Bay Area" about the time I started this whole cancer craziness, he has been sending me his morning bible devotionals via email. When I am in the hospital I don't always have time to read them and need to get caught up when I get home, but generally they are a normal part of my very un-normal morning routine.

This he was going over Colossians 2:6-15 and the first part (verse 6) really caught my attention. The last part says, "abounding in thanksgiving". I realized that while I have called upon God in this time of trial over the last couple of months I don't know that I have been overly thankful. There are many things to be thankful for: support of friends and family, that Lisa's job is so supportive, that I have access to great medical facilities, etc. But I don't think I am often thankful for more "strange" things to be thankful for: Cancer, pain, nausea, long stays in the hospital, etc. It's not going to be easy but I am going to try and work on that. Being thankful for everything, not just the "good" stuff that comes my way.
